Holy Night

The earth groaned under the weight of the night.

Weary souls looked to heaven

where God was silent.

No more messengers, nor signs

Only ancient promises

Scripted on scrolls.

Then, all at once, the lengthy drumroll of history

Is replaced by the frail sound of

A newborn’s cry.

Eternity’s awaited moment

Prophet’s words echoed

God’s Son in Flesh

Born of a Virgin

The Holy One has entered into Darkness.

Swaddled in cloths

Laying in a manger

Adored by His Mother

Worshiped by Angels.

The helpless child,

Dependent and weak

Given to us, to die in our stead

That we may live

Never to fear holy wrath

But enjoy Him forever.

Glory to Christ

Who holds the Universe.

The child who eternally holds His Mother

As she, in this moment, holds Him.

Giving Him life,

That He may forever grant it to us.

Merry Christmas!

“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6
